Mankato, MN (November 20, 2023) — The Mankato Area Foundation (MAF) released “Philanthropy Review 2023” this week, which reports the Foundation disbursed 577 grants totaling $3,556,153 to nonprofit organizations. Grants included $448,250 to the MY Place, $389,725 to Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota, $213,293 to Greater Mankato Area United Way and $88,250 to Mankato Area Public Schools.
“We always strive to increase our granting over the previous year – but, last year’s growth was unprecedented. This generous community never ceases to amaze me,” said Nancy Zallek, President and CEO of MAF.
Grant totals are up from the $2,449,479 distributed in fiscal year 2022. Children and youth, education and scholarships, and community benefit were the most significant granting focus areas.
“Next year the Foundation will observe its 50th anniversary. We’re optimistic that this momentum will continue into 2024 with even more things to celebrate. The future of philanthropy in this region looks bright,” said Zallek.
