MANKATO, MN (January 21, 2022) — Hockey Day Minnesota and the JZ Cancer Fund are pleased to announce the “Show Us Your Mullet”, a hockey hair growing contest to raise funds for cancer patients has brought in over $25,000. MSU hockey player Brendan Furry was the lead fundraiser bringing in over $7000.
Furry and six other hair enthusiasts grew mullets to raise funds for the JZ Cancer Fund. Other mullet growers include Mason Michalski – Mini Mite; Myles Wolters – Mankato East Hockey Player; Matt Tyree – Assistant East Coach; Jason Anderson – Assistant West Coach; Ronda Redmond – Recovering Hockey Mom and James Gullickson – Alpha Media.
Mullet growers will each had a social media presence where fans voted for their favorite mullet for $1 a vote, with all proceeds going to the JZ Cancer Fund. The winner, Brendan Furry encouraged all of his teammates and families to get behind his efforts. “This is a really important cause, and I am very proud of the team for getting behind me and being so generous.” Said Furry on fundraising success. Furry and fellow mullet growers will be on hand outside of Hockey Day Minnesota Entertainment Tent for an awards presentation:

A video showcasing the mullets will play during the period breaks of the Twin City Mullets and Steele County Blades game, starting at 4:30.
