Mankato, MN (September 28, 2020) — The Jonathan Zierdt Cancer Fund (JZCF) is pleased to announce that Dr. Chaun Cox of Mayo Clinic Health System has been named growMANkato’s Celebrity Ambassador to raise awareness for men’s health during the month of November. In addition, Mankato Brewery and Lupulin Brewing Company are teaming up again to brew Hazy Hero IPA, honoring the late Jonathan Zierdt, with a portion of the sale proceeds being donated to JZCF.
growMANkato and the JZCF—a donor advised fund of the Mankato Area Foundation—are collaborating to provide a series of educational and entertainment events focused on men’s health during the month of November. Mayo Clinic Health System’s Dr. Cox will grow his beard and be featured in a series of activities to raise awareness to these important health topics.
Donate $50 to JZCF during the month of October and receive a Stache Kit, available to be picked up at the kickoff event, November 2, 2020 at Mankato Brewery from 5 – 8 pm. Stache Kits include Hazy Hero IPA, signature mask, snacks, education materials on men’s health and information on upcoming events. Throughout the month of November, various fundraising events along with beard growing contests and virtual spirits tasting. Proceeds from these events will go to JZCF to carry out their mission, in supporting patients throughout the region who receive a cancer diagnosis.
A press event will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10 am at Mankato Brewery and will feature brewery owners, Tim Tupy of Mankato Brewery and Jeff Zierdt from Lupulin Brewing Company to talk about their collaborative efforts with Hazy Hero IPA, as well as a message from Chris Harstad, chair and co-founder of growMANkato to discuss A Men’s Health Initiative and a message from growMANkato’s Celebrity Ambassador, Dr. Cox.
