MANKATO FREE PRESS (January 21, 2018)—Whether they want to give their money away personally or establish a legacy that outlasts them, donors are increasingly turning to community organizations rather than giving directly to charities. Propelled by this trend, the Mankato Area Foundation has in six years grown from overseeing about $2 million in charitable funds to more than $14 million. Their goal is to hit $20 million by 2020.
