Originally from Amboy, Minnesota, Megan Schwanz, SHRM-CP, has spent her life in the greater Mankato area. She is a 2005 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she earned a degree in counseling. Megan’s career transitioned into human resources in 2010 after gaining part-time recruiting experience, where she discovered a passion for connecting people, supporting employees, and helping organizations build strong workplace cultures. Now, with over 15 years of experience in human resources, Megan has built her career around supporting organizations in the areas of employee relations, benefits, compliance, performance management, organizational development, and evolving state and federal employment requirements, while helping create workplaces where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work.
Megan Schwanz, SHRM-CP, currently serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at APX Construction Group, where she is a member of the executive leadership team and helps lead talent strategy, organizational development, compliance and risk management, and people-related initiatives that support company growth and culture. Through APX, Megan also provides HR leadership to other affiliated small businesses including Evenson Concrete Systems and Midwest Steel Erectors.
Megan is passionate about community, connection, and service. Her involvement includes serving as President of American Legion Auxiliary Post 616, a member of the Maple River Baseball Association, an HR Advisory Committee Member for Greater Mankato Growth HR Connect, an HR Committee Member for MY Place / Mankato Youth Place Inc., and a Parish Council Member for the Mapleton-Waldorf-Good Thunder-Vernon Center Quad Parish.
Megan lives about 20 miles south of Mankato with her husband, Philip, and their three children, Ashlyn, Hannah, and Holden. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cheering on her kids in all they do, meeting new people, and spending summer days on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes near Crosslake, Minnesota.
Megan was appointed to the Mankato Area Foundation Board of Directors in 2026.
