This session lays the groundwork for navigating philanthropy by exploring the origins and purpose of the nonprofit sector and its role in the community. Participants will examine the basic responsibilities of nonprofit boards and review the economics of fundraising through current data from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Giving USA. We’ll review the importance of strategic planning by reviewing a sample development plan and introduce the concept of return on investment in fundraising activities. Finally, participants will learn how to craft a compelling case for support by addressing four essential questions a case must address.
Presenter: Kim Snyder, Founder, Excelsior Bay Group
