Mankato Free Press editorial, “Our View” (July 20, 2025) — Thumbs up to the recent efforts by the Mankato Area Foundation to make it easier to donate through a targeted summer campaign matching donor interests to specific nonprofits.
The Giving for Good Catalog connects more than 50 featured nonprofits in Blue Earth and Nicollet counties with interests of donors and is way for the donors to learn about the nonprofits and jump start fundraising during the slower time during the summer.
The donation period is from July 7 to Aug. 8, a short window designed to create some urgency for donations. The maximum goal would be $5,000 for each nonprofit.
Nonprofits like the Good Counsel Learning Center and Camp Sweet Life Adventures children’s diabetes camp see the new campaign as another way to raise awareness of their programs to donors and just have one more way to connect with donors.
The Mankato community has time and time again shown its generosity whether through donations to the Greater Mankato Area United Way or the donor-directed funds of the Mankato Area Foundation. Donations go to programs that build up and support people in need in the area as well as projects that enhance the local quality of life.
